Endless Loop : Manchester, 1997. Performance.

Night. An open air car park without light. A black car. Its headlights are on. The bonnet and boot are both open. The engine is stuffed with tape recorders that play the sound of birdsong. In the boot the artist Robert Ellis quietly reads poetry by torchlight. The surface is gravel. I slowly drive the car backwards and forwards between the two microphones. The Microphones alternatively amplify the spaces of the boot and bonnet. The car displaces the gravel.
